Low Key Bride

If you’re lucky enough to have a venue with really high ceilings, I think this looks spectacular. As a backdrop to the ceremony, this is simple and really visually-arresting.
My only piece of advice is to discuss this with your photographer first! It may prove difficult in terms of getting the lighting right for the photographs!

After the previous post, I got thinking about more lighting ideas and I have found a couple more images which should provide some inspiration.
I don’t usually love a whole range of colorful lights but this arrangement somehow works and creates a wonderful glow.

Because it’s Friday and every so often I need a hit of full-on, no-expense-spared daydreaming, how about this??!!
I’ve posted before about the importance of lighting for your event and when it comes to candles or lanterns, I think it’s all about numbers. This is the only element of a wedding where “more is more”.
Isn’t this magical?

Here’s the last of the three posts looking at simplicity in wedding decoration. No doubt, you can spot the ongoing themes here: old, mismatched jars, a mix of flowers and some props that fit with the theme.

Another way to create a simple theme is to stick with just a few colors. Going for white and green is perhaps as straightforward as a color scheme can be, but there’s a reason that it keeps coming up.
I love this image for the mix of different flowers all in bright white and for the rustic appeal of an empty wine bottle as a table marker. (And what an excellent excuse to drink a few bottles in the months leading up to your wedding!)

A short series of posts which explore the theme of simplicity. I’d like to think that this is a constant theme through most of the posts on this blog but these ideas, in particular, seem to capture the way in which an unfussy concept can still be extremely striking.
I love this bouquet. It looks like all of those flowers have just been picked, gathered together and tied up. I would love to see the same sort of blooms dotted across tables and used as boutonnieres.

OK, so I saw this image of a suspended floral arrangement and thought it looked so great that I immediately started hunting for other options. Alas, every other hanging flower arrangement I saw was pretty terrible: overdone with crystals, lights and all manner of other things thrown at them.
However, I still wanted to post this image because I think it is marvellous: basically, this was suspended over the main table at the reception. This serves a dual purpose: it creates some interest over the heads of the guests - lovely for photos. At the same time, it means that there is not a massive floral arrangement in the middle of the table, blocking out the people sitting on the other side and generally taking up space.
Obviously, I would suggest really making sure that the cables are strong so that there is not a mid-meal collapse!

I wanted to post these images to show how sometimes less really is more when it comes to floral arrangements. There is something quite lovely about the exclusive use of just one type of bloom here. Especially when you see it replicated in vases and then on the place settings. Equally effective for a winter event would be a spray of red berries.

For anyone who follows this blog, you’ll know that I am a Brit who currently lives in New York. Although I’m certainly embracing the American love of coffee, in my heart of hearts, my true love is still tea! So you can imagine how much I like this idea for a favor: adorable test-tubes filled with loose tea leaves.
To make this even more bespoke, you and your partner, could create your own special blend of teas into a “wedding brew”! No need to enlist any expert help, just try out some different teas and then try mixing them in different amounts until you get a blend that you both really like.
In this example, I am also enjoying the simplicity of the glass and cork bottles and the printed labels. Alternatively, you could use small mason jars or hermetic jars to ensure that the tea remains fresh.

I love this idea for escort cards. These appear to be small sprigs of evergreen foliage but I think you could play with this idea and go for more aromatic greenery and plants. It really looks pretty and ideal for this time of year…
